Maintenance and Longevity: The Installer’s Truth

I often see people jump to a full-frame replacement when a simple window repair could suffice, but only if the frame integrity is sound. If the rough opening is square and the sill pan is correctly flashed, you might get away with an insert. However, if the wood is punky or the flashing tape was never applied by the previous installer, you are just throwing good money after bad.
